SIMPLISTIC SUMMER BEAUTY TRENDS | 2020 |

We may be inside, but summer’s almost here! And with the rising temperatures comes new  summer beauty trends to try this season. The best news: That hydrated, natural look isn’t going anywhere. A lot of things have changed in 2020, but the less-is-more makeup trend isn’t one of them.

This summer season, expect to see natural skin with pops of playful makeup in a rainbow of fun hues. In this post we’ll walk you through a few of our favourite trends and tell how to create the skin that makes them possible!

THE SKIN BEHIND THE TRENDS

The first step in achieving these dewy looks is to refresh your skin with probiotics and antioxidants.

CLEANSE: Start by cleansing the skin with Aurelia’s Miracle Cleanser. Apply a coin-sized drop of the product to fingers and massage into the skin. Use one of our Bamboo Muslins to release the product’s essential oils and remove the cleanser.

TONE: Next, tone the skin with our Brightening Botanical Facial Mist. Just shake the formula and apply several pumps to the skin. This will give your skin a balanced, even playing field for the upcoming makeup application.

PLUMP: Adding 3-4 drops of our Probiotic Concentrate to the skin can create a supple base for the following makeup trends. After sweeping on the serum use pressing motions to set the concentrate in place.

GLOW: Keep your skin from producing excess oil in these summer months by hydrating with our Balance & Glow Day Oil. Pump 3 drops onto hands and sweep into the skin.

LOCK IN: Use our Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser to lock in moisture without having to worry about excess residue.

OUR FAVORITE SUMMER BEAUTY TRENDS

The best part about these looks is the natural face that allows each trend to really pop.

After finishing your skin preparations, start by applying a cream highlighter to create that dewy look. The keys to a runway-ready glow is the revitalised skin base and pre-foundation highlighter.

Then apply a sheer, lightweight foundation. Extra points if it’s a barely-there tinted moisturizer. You even can find great coverage options that include SPF right in the formula to save your skin from the summer sun. Finish the look with another top layer of cream highlighter to bring out the skin’s glow. This base will let the following trends to really stand out without overpowering them.

ALL-OVER PINK BLUSH

Seen on beauties as early as last year’s Met Gala, lovers of pink rejoice! This stunning look is popping up everywhere and can be created in literal seconds.

Take a pink blush (it’s probably in your makeup bag already!) and sweep the shade over the apples of your cheeks. Then take additional blush and sweep it up near the temples. Finish the look by adding a cream blush as your eyeshadow and even lip color!

FLOATING EYELINER

Geometric eye makeup is the latest installment of this playful beauty trend we’ve been loving. Although it might be a bit tricky at first, just keep trying with shapes and lines above the lashes.

Instead of applying color above the upper lash line, take the pen a few millimeters above and play around with simplistic designs. Find inspiration photos and go to town recreating your own looks.

A tip: Try using a liquid, gel or cream eyeliner to get the hang of this trend. This will help you create precise lines.

YELLOW EYESHADOW

This summer it’s all. about. yellow. eyeshadow.

To perfect this trend, keep your makeup simple, but turn up the warm tones. Consider including a slightly warmer lip or cheek color, but make sure it doesn’t steal the show from that main yellow focal point.

After applying your regular makeup, press a yellow eyeshadow into the lid, starting close to the lashes. Then sweep the color up and fade it out. You can even try smudging it a little with your ring finger. The yellow eyeshadow doesn’t have to be perfect, it’s just a statement.

GLOSSY GRADIENT LIP STAIN

A dewy look followed by glossy lips. Can we say: The perfect match? The original trend started in K-Beauty circles and has since been called a gradient lip or bitten lip.

There are a few tricks to this look, though. One tip to really achieve this look is to choose a creamy stain and hydrating gloss. Start with a moisturising, peachy lip stain. Brush the colored stain on the inner lips. Then dot a lighter, more nude shade on the outer rim of the lips. Blend these together and highlight the inner color by building applications as desired. You can make the gradient as prominent or as faint as you’d like.

Finish off by applying a slick gloss over both lips.

WHITE EYELINER

The best part about this look is how little time it takes. Instead of wasting minutes in front of the mirror meticulously getting black eyeliner to flick in just the right way, bring attention to your eyes with this achievable trend.

Take a white eyeliner pen (again, we recommend starting with a liquid, gel or cream eyeliner to practice precision!) and simply sweep it over the upper lash line. You can really play around and have fun with this trend, even using it with the floating trick we mentioned earlier!
